Ohio Program:

In 1997 and 1998 the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) fought a ballot initiative to ban dove hunting in Ohio.  The ultimate success of the campaign was due in large part to the statewide infrastructure of sportsmen’s organizations, local rod & gun/ conservation clubs and thousands of individual sportsmen that was created. Following the successful campaign, USSA sought a method to keep this infrastructure vibrant and alive.  This lead to the creation of the USSA “Ohio Program.”

The Ohio Program is designed to protect and advance Ohio’s great hunting heritage while raising the funds needed to protect Ohio sportsmen from future attacks.  The premier event is our annual “Save Our Heritage” Ohio Rally.

“Save Our Heritage” Ohio Rally

A cornerstone of the 1997/1998 campaign was a sportsmen’s banquet held to help raise the funds needed to run the campaign.  This banquet was called the “Save Our Heritage” Rally.  In an effort to capitalize on the success of the campaign and to ensure the continuation of Ohio’s club infrastructure we continue to hold this Rally each Fall.  This event has grown into the preeminent sportsmen’s banquet in Ohio each year and gained national prominence with Sen. John McCain keynoting the 2008 event.
