Archery Tournament Lands in Ohio

Posted on July 6, 2012

The 3rd Leg of the prestigious International Bowhunting Organization’s (IBO) National Championship Triple Crown will be held in central Ohio on July 13-15. The event is open to all archers—no pre-registration is required—and to spectators and families.

“There are class groups for every skill level of archer and with any type bow—compounds, crossbows, traditional bows and others,” reports Jeff Watkins, U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance project manager. “Each shooter will be required to shoot 40 targets that are located on four separate courses we’ve set up on the property.” The targets will include the popular 3-D archery life-like animals ranging from deer to elk. There are senior and youth competitions along with Pro and Semi-Pro categories.

There will be many arrows in flight during the event with nearly 1,500 archers expected to compete. This will be one of the largest bow shoots in America this year.  On-site early registration for the competition opens on Thursday, July 12th.  The award ceremony will be held Sunday afternoon.

Other events during the archery-centered weekend include a hog roast and special entertainment on Saturday evening. Camp sites are available at the location. The Cardinal Shooting Center (http://cardinalcentercamp.com) is located 30 miles north of Columbus at the intersection of I-71 and Hwy. 62 in Marengo. The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (www.ussportsmen.org) is a working partner on this archery project along with the Cardinal Shooting Center and IBO (http://www.ibo.net).
