Alert: Coalition Opposing California Hunting Ban Grows

Posted on April 12, 2012

Local, state, and national sportsmen organizations, and outdoor media groups, are flocking to join the fight to defeat a California Senate Bill that would ban the use of dogs to hunt bears and bobcats.

Senate Bill 1221, sponsored by the nation’s largest anti-hunting organization – the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), has been scheduled for a hearing on April 24th before the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee in Sacramento.

“There is no reason to take these rights away from sportsmen.  We understand this is not really about hunting with hounds, but really just another step toward the anti-hunting lobby’s goal to end all hunting,” said Evan Heusinkveld, USSA’s director of state services.  “We’ve seen them across the country trying to ban bird hunting, bow hunting, Sunday hunting and even youth involvement in hunting. Hunters are not fooled.”
