Party like a Conservationist!

In case you’ve been sleeping and missed the big news, National Hunting and Fishing Day is this Saturday, September 22. Celebrations will be underway in many states, including: West Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, Illinois, South Carolina, North Carolina and others. Find an event and go participate at: (www.nhfd.org).

In North Carolina, the state’s Wildlife Resources Commission is hosting a huge event at the headquarters building in Raleigh (http://www.ncwildlife.org/Portals/0/NHFD/documents/NHFD_Centennial.pdf).   Activities that kids and adults can enjoy or experience there will include: an air rifle range; archery range; outdoor cooking; a falconry demonstration; viewing snakes, reptiles, and birds of prey; stepping into a mountain-man camp; learning about treestand safety; and trying fishing and casting. Attendees can also test their marksmanship skills in a Lasershot simulator. Programs and displays will also depart knowledge on outdoors survival, blood trailing during a hunt, testing a unique Huntmaster blind, and the ability to see safari animals from Africa and numerous fish species in other exhibits. This is one huge celebration and learning experience that all families will enjoy.
