Shocking: PETA Taking Bets on Senator’s Death

Posted on July 31, 2012

Recently, the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) retracted a memo that called for “Meatless Mondays.”  The scary memo, which read like it was written by an animal rights activist, was recently discussed in U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Protect What’s Right Blog.

Many across the country were up in arms that the USDA, who is supposed to help promote our country’s farmers and ranchers, would discourage their employees from eating meat.  Iowa Senator Charles Grassley was one of those concerned and, in response, celebrated “Meat Monday” where he and Senator John Cornyn of Texas enjoyed a large helping of barbeque.

In retaliation, PETA asked its members to place bets on when Senator Grassley would “succumb to heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or some other meat-related disease.”

Taking bets on when a U.S. Senator will die is just another example of how low the folks at PETA will stoop to make headlines.
