Legislator Scores High for HSUS Letter

I just reviewed the 2009 “Humane Scorecard” put together by the lobbying wing of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).  As a sportsman in your (State or District), I was deeply shocked when I saw that you earned an XX score from the group.

The HSUS is the nations largest animal rights group and opposes all hunting and trapping, modern animal agriculture practices, dog breeders, and really most uses of animals.  They are not your local animal shelters – they just share the same name.  The HSUS conducts campaigns to outlaw traditional wildlife conservation practices, including hunting, through voter initiative, litigation and legislation at the state and federal level.  If they have their way, our outdoor heritage will become a thing of the past.

These continued assaults not only fly in the face of America’s outdoor heritage, but, if successful over time, will destroy much of the funding for conservation efforts.

No one or group provides more funding for wildlife habitat and wetlands protection and restoration than sportsmen through hunting license fees, taxes on sporting arms and ammunition, and through personal contributions.  According to the late U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency Funding Survey, conducted by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation, hunting brings in more than $3 billion annually that is used to mount conservation programs to ensure abundant wildlife.

I hope you will take these comments into consideration and think long and hard before joining with the HSUS on any further legislative actions they might initiate.

Sincerely,

XXX

Legislator Scores Low for HSUS Letter

I just reviewed the 2009 “Humane Scorecard” put together by the lobbying wing of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).  As a sportsman in your (State or District), I was impressed that you earned an XX score from the group.

By not supporting their efforts you are standing with conservationists nationwide who oppose the radical agenda they promote.  Thank you for making the right call for America’s sportsmen and sportswomen.

Sincerely,

XXX
