Maryland sportsmen must immediately contact members of the House Environmental Matters Committee, especially the chairperson, and urge them to oppose House Bill 831.
HB 831 would allow only Department of Natural Resources (DNR) personnel to use foothold and body-gripping traps in Montgomery County. The measure outlaws trapping by private citizens, preventing trappers from using effective and humane trapping tools. The measure will severely harm the state’s ability to manage wildlife.
The bill has not yet been scheduled for a hearing in the House Environmental Matters Committee.
Take Action! Maryland sportsmen are urged to contact their member of the Maryland House of Delegates to tell them to oppose this measure as it will severely damage the state’s ability to successfully and safely manage wildlife populations.
