USSA Board Member to Head Cabela’s Inc.

Former Remington Arms CEO Millner Named Cabela’s President

U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) Board member Thomas (Tommy) Millner will become the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Cabela’s Inc., effective April 6.

For the last 15 years, Millner has worked at Remington Arms Company, most recently as CEO of its parent corporation, the Freedom Group Inc (FGI).

Millner is an avid shooter and veteran international hunter with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and sportsmen’s rights.  He has also been a strong friend of the USSA.

Not only does he serve as a member of the USSA Board of Directors, he is also the volunteer chairman of the USSA’s Outdoor Business Council. He has also been an effective recruiter for the USSA’s National Advisory Council. In those capacities he works to bring new volunteers to the USSA to attract necessary talent, influence and resources.

Under Millner’s leadership, Remington Arms Co. received the inaugural Cabela Lifetime Business Achievement Award in 2007. The award was created to honor the Cabela family's dedication to protecting outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing, and trapping.

Meanwhile, Theodore (Ted) Torbeck has been selected to follow Millner as CEO of Remington and the FGI. In the release announcing Torbeck’s selection, he said, “Cabela’s is lucky to have Tommy and we look forward to working with Tommy in his new role.”

Echoing that sentiment is USSA President and CEO Bud Pidgeon, “The USSA looks forward to continuing our relationship with Tommy as he transitions to Cabela’s.   Together we will make certain that America’s hunting heritage remains vibrant.”

The USSA’s ties to Cabela’s Inc. run deep. Richard N. Cabela, founder of Cabela’s Inc, has served on the USSA Board of Directors since 1996. Since 2001 he has served as the President of the Board.
